Abstract: Abstract: Every nation desires to grow economically, socially and politically towards self-reliance and nation building. This desire is most times expressed through their governmental policies. Most countries have realized the important role education plays in of national development. As such, measures are being taken to educate the citizenry in order to produce enough manpower or the desired development. Following the above, this paper tried to examine how education particularly at the adult literacy level has contributed to build a nation like Nigeria, regarding economic, social and political factors.
