Abstract: This research examines the nexus between moral decadence in contemporary Tiv society vis-à-vis the activities of the Catholic Church in Tiv land and how it has been able to carry out these challenges brought about by moral decay. The problem of the study was to find out how moral decadence has affected contemporary Tiv society. The Catholic Church in Tiv land has been selected to illustrate the experience. The design for the study is the descriptive survey which selected the Catholic Church in Tiv Land of Makurdi Diocese. It made use of primary and secondary data for the study. It made use of primary data through interviews as well as personal observation method in acquiring data for the study. The research adopted the Natural Law Theory of Thomas Aquinas which placed emphasis on acceptable behaviour in the society for the study. Its assumptions and methods of teaching was anchored on good moral behaviour and hence its choice for the study. The research finds out that contemporary Tiv society is affected by high-level moral decadence. The Catholic Church which has championed the teaching of sound morality among the people faces lack of support from the family, government (society) as well as the negative impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT); which has influenced the behaviour of the people particularly the youths who constitute the greater number of the catholic population in Tiv land. The research reveals that despite the several years of evangelisation in Tiv land, issues of morality remain a challenge. The research finds out that worldliness is gradually gaining ground in the church through moral decadence by the youths. This is connected to gross negligence by the pastoral team as well as the laity. The study therefore recommends that both the family, government and the Catholic Church should do more in area of proper upbringing of children. The Roman Catholic Church can as well review and revive essential Christian activities that are attractive and friendly with the taste of time
