Abstract: The paper investigated the influence of infant mortality on educational development of pre-primary school pupils in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State. Descriptive survey was adopted for the study and questionnaire forms were employed for data collection. Four research questions were posed and analyzed using percentages. The findings revealed that 85% asserted the prevalence of disease conditions among nursery pupil, 77% for cultural practices, . 74%for socio-environmental factors and 73% for nutrition as having the influence on pre-primary pupils. On the basis of the findings, useful recommendations were made to government, with a strong suggestion for development of health intervention programmes so as to .pr?vide a basis for child health and survival and as a way of buildinq a solid education foundation for the Nigerian child.
